What each tune-up includes
Safety check
- Check serial exhaust temperatures to ensure heater is burning at a safe temperature
- Check for gas leaks
- Check safety sensors/controls
Cleaning
- Clean out any debris that has blown in the heaters (sand, leaves, salt build up)
Inspection
- Check for leaks in plumbing/manifold (can cause corrosion/heater failure over time)
- Check motor operation
- Check for abnormal noise
- Check for excessive vibration
- Inspect blower motor
- Inspect gas valve
- Inspect burners
Efficiency
- Check for safe/efficient burn
- Assess for proper flame height (if applicable)
- Test thermostat
- Test exhaust temperatures
- Clean second stage regulator vent to allow for optimal gas flow
Prevention
- Check all electrical connections
- Check for corrosion
- Coat sensors, contacts, gas valve, hardware with protective rust inhibiting spray
- Run heater for 15-20 minutes
Rodent check
- Clean out any debris/scat/nesting
- Assess wiring/tubing/typical rodent failure items
